He held numerous positions at the JEA, serving as a board member for 55 years. He was President of the JEA, the JEA Men's Club, B'nai B'rith Jacob Synagogue, and the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame. He served as a trustee and on the Honors Committee of the GSAHF, Vice President of the Savannah Symphony Society, and for 18 years served as a Recreation Commissioner for the City of Savannah Leisure Services Bureau. He was a member of the Kiwanis and the Wilmington Island Clubs. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Textile Engineering. After graduation, he served his Country as a Navy Lieutenant in the Pacific during World War II. When the War ended, he joined his brother-in-law in owning and operating Alan Barry's men's clothing store, a fixture on Broughton Street for 43 years. Marvin was a past President of the Jewish Educational Alliance and was a life-long member of Congregation B'nai B'rith Jacob. He was also a member of the Downtown Merchant's Association and the Jaycees.
